Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

A LOW-COST/INSTATNT VPN

6 Jan 2004

Nirmit/Raju/SriRam

A LOW-COST/INSTATNT VPN

Nirmit mentioned to me yesterday that Megha is planning to move to Delhi and he has asked Abhi/Reena to examine the technical issue involved, if we

-    Decide that Megha would operate from Delhi as an agent / branch / franchisee of 3P or even simply as a “Remote/rest based consultant”

-    Have to enable to Megha to remotely access (and operate) our Marol-based databases & applications, especially

·     Module 1 (Member + Non Member)

·     OES

·     ISYS etc etc.

Obviously, unless she is able to access / use these databases / applications, from wherever she lives, she cannot perform her role.

In this context & understand Reena is asked to explore possibility / feasibility / installation & maintenance cost etc etc. Of a VPN (Virtual Private network)

Obviously such a VPN would enable her to access/use the databases & applications residing centrally on 3P’s marol network. Equally obvious is that, in course of time, we would have many more consultants.

-     Working from their residences (within Mumbai)

Or

-    Working from other cities.

So, what may be just ONE node today, would, over time, grow into MANY nodes.

If we plan to cater to corporate clients located in hundreds of cities all over the country we, most certainly need to locate our consultants / branches in to a FEW regional - centers. And all of them would need to access/use,

MODULE 1 /OE.

The question is,

Is VPN the right way to go about?

I think, No!

I think Reqruitguru is THE RIGHT WAY to go about because coming to think of it,

RecruitGuru is a much superior VPN! (-Overall, with some limitations).
As for as Resume database search is concerned, we have already created, 3P’s own /private resume database on RecruitGuru which is far better than MODULE 1.

What remains is to modify our OES (in. net, and upload on RecruitGuru! (-including transfer of search-results into online OES)

OES, modified & upload as an Interview Management Module, will serve ALL SUBSCRIBERS of RecruitGuru!

That will enable us to promote RecruitGruru amongst multi office placement Agencies and multi office corporate employers as
RECRUITGURU

-    Your INSTANT, LOW COST VPN!

And if 3P itself becomes a satisfied user of this LOW cost VPN, by having Megha conduct all of her activities thru RecruitGuru then, Sanjeev has one more VERY POWERFUL argument.

By offering some (primitive?) form of “Order Execution/Interview Mgmt. capabilities/features on their websites, Monster/ Jobs Ahead etc. have already moved in this direction! We are the latecomers. They can already claim that their jobsites eliminate the need for a VPN (-as far as recruitment process is concerned).

So,

Instead of spending our time/money/effort on installing a VPN (to facilitate  Megha to access/use Module 1 to OES, why not spend, much less time / effort/money to modify & upload OES on RecruitGuru? Not only our purpose will get served, we would have added a powerful marketing tool for RecruitGuru?

In closing, I enclose

-    A page comparative Tabulation

-    Photocopies of 20 pages from book “Franchising” by Pramod Khera (APTECH) –Which I need between Aug 2001/April 2002 (Much before RecuirGuru was initiated). This book is with Kavita and strongly recommend that you read the last chapter.
